Rolling coverage of the day’s political developments as they happen 9.39am BST According to the House of Commons website, the Commons has only sat on Saturdays four times since 1939.Three of those sittings were prompted by way or military conflict: 2 September 1939 (the day before the outbreak of the second world ward); 3 November 1956 (the Suez crisis); and 3 April 1982 (the invasion of the Falklands). 9.35am BST These are from Chris White, a former Tory special adviser in the chief whip’s office and the leader of the Commons’ office, on the plan for a Saturday sitting of parliament on 19 October.Will be interesting to see what the business will be on this day. Options could be:

▫️Emergency legislation (anti no deal MPs)
