See all our coronavirus coverage 3.38pm GMT Several gorillas at the San Diego zoo are expected to make a full recovery weeks after testing positive for Covid-19, the first known cases in such primates in the US, AP reports.The Safari Park executive director Lisa Peterson said the eight western lowland gorillas were likely to have been exposed to the virus by a zookeeper who tested positive for Covid-19 in early January, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.Veterinarians have since closely monitored the gorillas to make sure they have been eating and drinking enough to recover on their own. The park north of San Diego has been closed to the public as part of California’s lockdown efforts to curb coronavirus cases. 3.29pm GMT German Chancellor Angela Merkel says the COVID-19 pandemic has shown how deeply interlinked we are with each other and how much we depend on nature.
